7. The Great American Presidential Debate

One the best moments in the show's early history sees a debate between "the rent is too damn high" candidate Jimmy McMillan and resident 35-year-old-candidate Connor Ratliff. For those not acquainted with the show, the bit is that Ratliff is 35 years old - which is old enough to become president in the United States - and he runs solely on this platform.

Ratliff is a comedic tour-de-force and this episode is one of his finest moments on the show. His pairing with McMillan is another stroke of genius, with the two angrily bickering throughout the debate. McMillan is the perfect foil to Ratliff and within moments he is proclaiming himself as Ratliff's daddy. It all goes uphill from there.

It is one of the earliest examples of the show's fascination with pathetic people trying to maintain composure in a series of intense situations and much of this is owed to Jimmy McMillan.

Aside from the central spectacle of the show, another peak moment is the performance of a song called "The Ghost of Dom Deluise," performed by early regulars Michael Cruz Kayne and Don Fanelli - who insist on performing the song to stick to the show's original Halloween theme, which was scheduled before the knowledge that the debate would actually happen.

Rarely will you see a debate interrupted by a chorus of people singing "I'm a ghost, I'm a ghost, I'm a spooky ghost."
