You might think you saw William Shatner pop up in one of The Big Bang Theory's 260+ episodes, but the sad truth is he has never made it to the show. That's somewhat shocking considering the series has hosted just about every actor of significance who ever stood on the deck of the Starship Enterprise.

Granted, many haven't made the occasional cameo including Patrick Stewart, Michael Dorn, and others, but when it comes to a Captain you expect to see on the show, it seems strange that James T. Kirk hasn't transported onto the set at one point or another.

As it happens, he was asked to come onto the show, but declined:

I’ve had several conversations with the creators, and what they wanted me to do, didn’t seem to be exactly right, so I said ‘find something that’s better’. They may have taken umbrage at that, I’m not sure. They wanted me to play myself a little obliquely, and they said it would work out, but I needed more assurance on that.

That happened back in October 2016, but Shatner hasn't ruled out making an appearance. Hopefully, he will find his way onto the show in some sort of surprise guest-spot like Mark Hamill did when he married Sheldon and Amy in season 11.
