The Big Bang Theory: 10 Reasons Amy & Sheldon Should Break Up

9. No Chemistry

Again, this is not too say that they the acting quality is poor. Both are excellent, but the chemistry that is present with Howard and Bernadette or Penny and Leonard is simply absent from ShAmy. Some of this lack of chemistry is explained through the characters personalities, but Sheldon thrives with Leonard and company, and Amy shines with Penny and Bernadette. Wouldn€™t we be better off watching a program where the characters are written into situations that allow the respective characters to be at their best? The characters are simply too similar; Bernadette and Howard, and Penny and Leonard are different enough that we can see the different personalities, ShAmy almost blend into one person due to the sheer similarity between the characters. This is striking because Sheldon and Amy are the only characters in the show to be given a nickname that merges them; ShAmy is virtually one character split into a male and female form, whereas successful relationships tend to be formed through two opposites. Monica and Chandler, Ross and Rachel, Penny and Leonard, Howard and Bernadette, all these TV couples are a union of opposites, not two scarily similar characters.
