While the time jump with kids is a fun way to play out Sheldon and Leonard's friendship into their kids' lives, there are other aspects of the group's lives that could play out in a time jump the fans might like to see. Whether Sheldon wins a Nobel Prize or not, he will continue to work in physics.

There is a theory online that Sheldon will eventually leave California for Switzerland to work at CERN. If this were to happen, Sheldon would live out a lifelong dream to work on the world's largest supercollider, but that wouldn't necessarily be a good thing for Amy.

While Amy has worked on their super-asymmetry project alongside her husband, she is not a physicist. Fortunately, the city of Geneva is a 15-minute drive from Meyrin where CERN is located.

Amy is a neuroscientist who could easily find rewarding work at the University of Geneva, which has one of the most advanced neuroscience/neurobiology research facilities in the world. If the two were to move to Switzerland, they could raise their family and continue their respective careers in a perfect setting, which makes this a somewhat out-of-the-box, yet plausible theory.
