The Big Bang Theory: 10 Things You Completely Missed From Season One

3. Where's Penny's Kitchen?

The Big Bang Theory

As Leonard and Sheldon are about to walk into their apartment in the pilot episode, they notice the neighbour's door is wide open, with Penny inside unpacking. Because this is the introduction of Penny as well as her relationship with Leonard and Sheldon, this has become one of the defining moments of the entire show.

But upon revisiting the opening episode, fans can easily notice a little inconsistency. If you look directly behind Penny when she's introduced, her apartment has no kitchen.

Upon seeing this episode for the first time, viewers would assume the kitchen resides in a space off-screen. However, the kitchen (as well as the windows) are visible from this viewpoint in the following episode. Obviously, the top priority for showrunners while filming the pilot was to ensure the script was tight and the actor's chemistry was on point. As a result, the layout of Penny's home wasn't a major concern.

Although most irregularities in the show can only be clocked by the most attentive viewers, this is an obvious continuity error pretty much anyone will notice upon rewatching the pilot.
