Since the early days of the show, Raj's mother and father have encouraged their son to take part in an arranged marriage. Growing increasingly frustrated with his inability to find love, Raj finally accepts his parents' request, and agrees to meet his potential fiancee, a hotel concierge called Anu.

Raj is skeptical at first, but is won over soon after meeting her. Since Anu is commanding, assertive, and dominant, she feels like the perfect counter-balance to Raj. In a way, she is the yin to his yang. Because she appears in the final season, it felt like the show would wrap up with the pair getting hitched.

But very quickly, Anu's self-assured personality changes, causing her to comes across as mean-spirited and bossy to her betrothed. The way she talks down to Raj and snaps at him over the most minor gripe, you wonder why she wants to marry him in the first place. Even though we were originally hoping to see Raj finally tie the knot with somebody, it was a relief when they decided to call it quits.
