2. Cameos: More Please
Season 6 was short on cameo appearances, to be sure. While it was absolutely fantastic to have Buzz Aldrin cameo in relation in Howard becoming an astronaut, and Howie Mandel appearing opposite Howard Wolowitz in a case of mistaken Howard identity, the real cameo win came in the form of Bob Newhart, the television comedy legend. Appearing in the Season 6 finale as a retired Professor Proton, Newhart's character was contacted by the guys in order to make a return appearance as Sheldon's favorite childhood television scientist, Professor Proton. Newhart was absolutely brilliant in his limited time in the episode, and what a grand way to close out Season 6. But we didn't get much more than that with Season 6. For a show that's so brilliant in it's cameo casting (Leonard Nimoy, Stan Lee, Stephen Hawking), Season 6 felt like an afterthought in this department. Looking ahead to Season 7, the writers will undoubtedly try to correct this minor oversight, and hopefully we will have a true return to cameo form for The Big Bang Theory. What would be great would be the revisiting of some older storylines also, like more with Sheldon's incredibly attractive twin sister or a revisit from Raj's sister or Penny's only-spoken-of brother, along with the addition of some newer cameo faces such as William Shatner (come on Kaley, you're doing commercials with the man now!) or even Bill Gates (Sheldon needs to have a word or two with him about Windows Vista). Whatever they decide, let's hope we get a few more cameos with Season 7 to add the vast pantheon of Big Bang famous and familiar faces.
