When The Big Bang Theory hit our television screens in 2007, it taught us that being a geek was pretty cool.

The show followed a group of scientists whose world slowly began to change forever when a beautiful actress moved in across the hall. Leonard, Sheldon, Raj and Howard loved all things science, comic books and playing D&D; all pursuits that never interested popular girl Penny. As her feelings begin to grow for theoretical physicist Leonard, though, Penny began to understand and appreciate his love of all things nerdy.

Over time, the gang of five added two more into their group, with microbiologist Bernadette and neuroscientist Amy - showing that science wasn’t just a place for the guys to succeed.
