In Leonard Hofstadter, Johnny Galecki gave audiences one of the great modern-day TV characters.
While every single person in The Big Bang Theory was forever facing an uphill battle when it comes to sharing screen time and mainstream coverage with Jim Parsons’ Sheldon Cooper, Galecki’s Leonard managed to more than hold his own against the loud, obnoxious scenery-devouring antics of Sheldon.
Leonard is likely the most rounded of all of the characters in The Big Bang Theory, having the same geeky smarts and tendencies as his pals, but also managing to be somewhat of a social butterfly in comparisons to his friends. Plus, y’know, he punched way above his supposed weight and bagged the girl when it comes to Penny.
Similarly, Leonard is often the most likeable of the Big Bang bunch, and he’s the character that underwent the best overarching story from start to finish across the show’s 12 seasons.
