Time and time again, Homelander has proven to be a man impossible to impress. Despite Madelyn Sitwell and Doppleganger's attempts to satiate his sexual perversions, he killed them both. A-Train and The Deep suck up to him endlessly and yet, he seems them as nothing more than pathetic sycophants. Although he once cared for Queen Maeve, he had her imprisoned, tried to harvest her eggs, and gouged her eye out.

In fact, the only person Homelander has ever consistently respected was his silent teammate, Black Noir. In every season, Homelander has emphasised how the mute Supe is the only member of The Seven who's constantly pulling his weight. He's not much for conversation but he never seems to let Homelander down.

But when Homelander discovered Soldier Boy was his father, he asked if Noir knew, since the pair were once teammates. By giving a simple nod, Noir basically signed his death warrant, since he admitted he deprived Homelander of the one thing he always wanted - a parent.

Unable to forgive Noir, Homelander punched his guts out, leaving his only friend in the world to die on the floor.
