The Daily Show: 10 Hosts Who Should Replace Jon Stewart

3. Dara O'Briain

If Comedy Central really wanted to think outside the box, however, they'd go for a performer who's a relative unknown in the states. A stand-up who is famed for his improvisational skill. A TV host who has fronted a satirical news show for the better part of a decade. A man so intelligent that he can host another programme alongside actual science boffin Brian Cox and not look like a complete imbecile. Irish comedian Dara O'Briain has a lot going for him that would make him the ideal replacement for Jon Stewart. He's inarguably the best part of Mock The Week, a frequently ropey panel show he fronts and gets all the best jokes in, and he's equally at home with live and pre-recorded television. He does also, admittedly, have something of a thick accent €“ and for a country where Trainspotting and Guy Ritchie films come subtitled, that may be an issue. He's also not so much on the peripheries of public consciousness in the States as totally absent, meaning he's the definite wild card.
