The Defenders: 10 Reasons It's A Massive Disappointment

9. Failing To Take Advantage Of Sigourney Weaver

Even though it was very clear from the outset that The Hand would be the big villains once again (try and stifle your yawns, please), the addition of the legendary Sigourney Weaver should have injected some much needed confidence.

Sadly, though, Alexandra is not the well-billed hero of the series she should have been. She starts off well, sure, but by the end - with the rise of Elektra - she's cast off entirely, and killed with almost comical brutality. Both that abrupt ending to her arc and the way she conducts herself with the other Fingers fails to mark her out as the big bad this show warranted.

She - along with the other Fingers - was supposed to be the biggest threat we'd ever seen (hence the ensemble coming together), but instead they bicker and Alexandra does precisely nothing to justify why she's a Finger in the first place. The others are all bad-asses in their own way (even Madame Gao somehow learns the Force out of nowhere), but she's just sort of there, trying to operate on the same level as Kingpin and failing miserably.
