The Expanse: Ranking The Main Characters From Worst To Best

A criminally underrated Burn Gorman gives a sensational performance as a cruel and calculated head of security in Season Four. After an Earther research team clashes with a colonising Belter community on a newly discovered planet, Gorman's Murtry escalates tensions when he believes the Belters caused the crash of his ship. He comes into direct conflict with Holden and Amos who attempt to calm matters.

Murtry is a methodical foe, every action he does is planned and specific and he slowly constricts the Belters with each increasing aggression. The chemistry Gorman has with Wes Chatham is fantastic as the show slowly builds to their inevitable confrontation.

Murtry is no fool either, he manages to outsmart the Rocinante crew on more than one occasion which almost results in the death of Amos after he is severely wounded by Murtry. Ultimately, he is quite a small scale villain when you compare him to scheming politicians and fearsome terrorists but he is a memorable one and a highlight of the fourth season.
