The Falcon & The Winter Soldier: 10 Biggest Takeaways From Episode One

7. The Avengers Never Got Paid

The Avengers were a privately funded entity, only able to operate on such a level as they did because of Tony Stark's immense wealth. He paid for all the tech and equipment, gave the team a huge base to work out of in New York, and even gave them a place to live.

What he didn't do however, was pay the Earth's Mightiest Heroes a wage. While the likes of Natasha and Clint would have potentially had money saved from their days with SHIELD before the formation of the Avengers, it seems a little odd that the heroes had no real income to rely on.

Despite them putting their lives on the line and treating being an Avenger as a full time job, it was confirmed by Sam in episode one that as an Avenger he didn't get paid. Instead, the team had to rely on a tremendous amount of help and good will.

It makes you think a bit deeper about Steve not being able to afford a place in Brooklyn, and what knock on effects this will have down the line.
