The one absolute rule of time travel in The Flash is that it has consequences. Apart from time wraiths, irrevocably changing things seems to be a real possibility and though Barry has avoided anything cataclysmic for now, it seems only a matter of time before he does something truly irresponsible.

Likewise, jumping back and forth through Earth-2 can’t possibly have been done without any side effects. We’re talking about tearing through the fabric of space and time and judging by the show's outline of time travel, there is typically a price for these types of journeys.

One of the best aspects of the series is forcing Barry to make tough choices and then having him live with those consequences. In the last few episodes, he’s made some very difficult decisions that could affect the very nature of his reality. The real test of all of this will be if anything bad really comes of his actions, or if he'll feel free to keep traveling around.
