The nightmarish speedster that spent the majority of Season 3 terrorizing everyone with his giant metal suit actually turned out to be a scorned and twisted time remnant of The Flash himself, who had travelled from the future to kill Iris because in his timeline Iris was dead and in order to complete the circle Iris had to die or else he would be erased from existence. Yeah, it's all very confusing.
Anyways, when evil Barry wasn't busy bewildering us with his time travel logic that didn't match the time travel logic that the show had previously sworn by, he was actually a rather compelling villain.
Enhanced by Grant Gustin's impressive attempt at villainy, it's unfortunate that the writers used a ton of plot armour to drag out the Savitar identity reveal because had we gotten to spend a little longer with this Barry, he could have made a great villain. Oh well, at least we got the talking metal suit instead, right?
