The Flash Season 3: 10 Things You Need To Know About Kid Flash

The Flash Wally West Kid Flash
DC Comics

Whilst the TV Kid Flash has his own unique costume, one which reflects many comic book incarnations of the character, that wasn't always the case in the funny books.

You’d have to guess it was purely done as an ego boost, but when Wally West first became Kid Flash he was decked out in the exact same outfit as The Flash. Sure, Wally had a smaller frame than his mentor, but it still confused certain casual fans to see two heroes stood next to each other in the exact same outfit.

Luckily for Wally, Elongated Man was soon on hand to help out with a new suit that allowed him to be more of his own hero. This was the basis for the various Kid Flash costumes that would follow over the ensuing decades.

What was a little, err, different about this new outfit for Wally West was that it actually featured a spray that would change Wally’s hair from its natural red to brown. Clearly there were so few redheads in the DC Universe that it was felt showing off Wally’s natural hair colour would lead to everybody deducing Kid Flash’s real identity.
