The Flash Season 3 Review: 7 Ups And 5 Downs From 'Flashpoint'

11. The Role Of Reverse-Flash

Despite Eobard Thawne/Reverse-Flash having been a key part of the past two seasons, Matt Letscher really hasn’t had all that much screen time. After all, for basically 95% of Season 1, Thawne was shown as Harrison Wells (as played by Tom Cavanagh).

In Flashpoint, however, we get to see Letscher devour scenery and put in a fantastic performance as Thawne. Taking great delight in what he knows is going to play out for Barry, Thawne’s cocksure attitude, arrogance, and sheer viciousness is a joy to behold.

With the world flipped on its head, Reverse-Flash knows that Barry will eventually need Thawne to go back in time and kill Nora Allen once more, and the nefarious speedster seems to enjoy every minute of it.

As he proclaims “Now who’s the villain, Flash?”, viewers were given another insight into the relationship between these two rivals who are destined to battle for years to come. Whilst the hatred between the pair was clearly on show, there was also a twisted sense of respect there as well.

Regardless, Matt Letscher was phenomenal here, and that makes his new regular gig on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow as part of the Legion of Doom even more exciting.
