The Flash Season 5: 5 Ups & 1 Down From ‘The Death Of Vibe’

5. Ralph Dibny's Character Development
Ralph Dibny first made his presence felt during The Flash's cartoonish fourth season and, unfortunately he didn't help improve the declining standard. With his inability to take things seriously and over-the-top personality, he came off as too corny and just didn't resonate with audiences in the way that a character as iconic as Elongated Man should have.
However, now that he's a regular part of the show, things are really beginning to look up for Ralph. Taking the time to learn things and brushing up his knowledge of Team Flash's previous adventures, he is finally starting to feel like he belongs on the team, and he highlighted that in this week's episode when he returned to his roots as a private investigator.
Nobody loves a good mystery quite like Ralph and he proved that by assisting Caitlin figure out what happened to her father. In doing so, he helped her retrieve some vital information from her mother's office (by breaking an entering, of course) that could give her the answers she needs. Moreover, he has supported her throughout this whole storyline, showing a rather surprising amount of compassion for her whenever she struggled with losing Killer Frost, and giving up his time to help her get to the bottom of this.
This is the Ralph Dibny we deserve, and it's great that he's finally showing us what kind of man he really is. Welcome to the family, Ralph.
