'The Flash And The Furious' left us with even more questions than before...

Contains spoilers for The Flash Season 5, Episode 10.

After a relatively short break from our screens, The Flash returned to The CW for its midseason premiere. With a cool subplot that once again highlighted the dangers of the newly-introduced meta-tech, the episode primarily focused on Nora West-Allen and the internal conflict she faced over her secret meetings with the Reverse-Flash.

Following on from the show's 100th episode, 'The Flash And The Furious' teased us with the pair's unusual partnership, threatening to reveal some major details. However, Nora's recent discovery that Thawne had actually killed her grandmother and namesake, Nora Allen, threw things into disarray as she struggled to comprehend the fact that she had aligned herself with her father's archenemy.

Nora wasn't the only one who was struggling though, as Cisco came to a sudden (emphasis on sudden) realisation that he no longer wanted to be a metahuman - a story that promises to lead the show down a really interesting creative direction that we haven't seen before.

However, the ironic thing about all of this conflict in the midseason premiere is that this was the episode we hoped would provide us with answers and, instead, it has actually ended up leaving us with a lot more questions than before.

6. Does Barry Really Believe That All Criminals Are Redeemable?

One of the midseason finale's standout scenes came when Nora visited Barry (who willingly imprisoned himself in the S.T.A.R. Labs pipeline to cease the meta-tech inflicted vibrations) for some advice. Clearly heartbroken to have discovered that the man she was working with, Eobard Thawne, had actually murdered her grandmother, Nora needed to know if even the worst of criminals could have a change of heart.

This led to a sweet moment in which Barry recalled how his relationship with Leonard Snart evolved over the years and ultimately resulted in Captain Cold's transition from villain to Legend to hero - proving that if a criminal is willing to change, then they have a shot at redemption. Though it answered Nora's question, she needed to know if the same would apply to a more vindictive individual like Eobard Thawne.

The question barely even stumped Barry as he revealed that he did truly believe that Thawne was capable of changing. Of course, he answered the question on a hypothetical basis, completely unaware that his own daughter is secretly working with his archnemesis, and this leaves us wondering if he will feel differently when he discovers the truth.

Thawne murdered Barry's mother in cold blood and has somehow managed to regularly evade death and time, popping up little and often to remind the Scarlet Speedster that he's still around. So, even if his intentions are noble this time around, that may not be enough to save him when Barry finds out what he's up to.
