The Flash Season 5 Finale: What Does The Ending Really Mean?

7. Nora Has Been Erased From Existence

The Flash Season 5 Barry Iris Nora
The CW

When Nora was assisting the Reverse-Flash with his plan, she never could have predicted that it would have direct consequences for her. Those consequences, however, wasted no time manifesting when Thawne's plan came to fruition as his "little runner" was erased from existence.

Nora's actions have had quite a dramatic effect on the timeline. Travelling back through time and destroying DeVoe's satellite disrupted the natural flow of things as she not only announced her presence to her family (long before she was due to be born), she also created not one but two Cicadas. While this was only the beginning because, as The Flash has taught us on many occasions, the timeline is ever-changing, the successful completion of Thawne's plan resulted in the creation of a brand new timeline and, due to this, any loose ends from the old one were erased.

Though Nora could have been saved by using the negative Speed Force (much like this version of Thawne is still alive even though the original was erased from existence), she ultimately decided against it and, accepted the consequences of her actions as she shared one final moment with her family before she was erased.

Farwell, Nora.
