The Flash Season 5 Finale: What Does The Ending Really Mean?

6. Joe West Is CCPD Captain

One of the more joyous moments of the finale's final act came when Captain Singh called Joe, Cecile and Barry into his office and revealed that the Mayor had offered him the position as police chief. As this promotion meant that his own job was up for grabs, he decided that it was only fitting to offer it to the one man who has guarded the CCPD precinct with as much commitment as he did: Joe West.

Joe recently found himself overseeing S.T.A.R. Labs' administering of the metahuman cure during Singh's absence, during which he had to confront his fears when it came to the responsibility of the job. But with Cecile by his side, he realised that he was indeed capable of such a prestigious honour - even if he didn't expect to take it up permanently.

Joe has given his all to Central City over the show's past five seasons and is undoubtedly one of The Flash's most integral core characters, so it's going to be exciting to see how he slots into this new role going forward.

CCPD has never been in safer hands.
