The Flash Season 6: Ranking Every Character From Worst To Best
2. Iris West-Allen
It's hard to imagine a time when The Flash bafflingly treated Iris West like a damsel in distress. The reason this writer says that is down to the growth that the character has experienced over the past couple of years as the creative team went out of their way to make up for the missteps of Season 3. And it is with great joy that we can confirm they have successfully done so.
Though Iris did remain integral to the plot of the previous two seasons, it still didn't feel like the show was utilising her to the best of her abilities - because first and foremost, Iris West-Allen is a reporter. That's something that Season 6 nailed pretty early on as she wasted little time setting up the Central City Citizen, all while wrestling with herself over whether or not to write that infamous article about the Crisis.
Her initial turmoil over the loss of her daughter Nora kicked things off on a poignant note and, from there, she continued to showcase her strength of character - dealing with grief while also preparing to lose her husband in the Crisis. And when that didn't happen, she took it upon herself to investigate Black Hole and even did the unthinkable by discovering that Eva McCulloch was still alive.
Iris has had the potential to be a standout since the show began, but it always felt like the writers were holding back when it came to her. That finally came to an end in Season 6 as the intrepid reporter shone brighter than ever before, proving herself as the invaluable character that she has always been. And it all gave the incomparable Candice Patton the chance to deliver some of her best work yet.
