The Flash Season 6 Review: 6 Ups & 2 Downs From 'Marathon'

The long-teased Crisis On Infinite Earths has come and gone and, in something of an unexpected twist (for Team Flash at least), Barry Allen managed to survive the melee - overcoming six years of foreshadowing, fate and that blasted newspaper headline. But that doesn't necessarily mean that he'll be able to enjoy his new lease on life just yet.

Though The Flash hasn't aired a single episode since its installment of Crisis before the holidays, the Scarlet Speedster's contributions to the crossover continued into the final two installments a few weeks back - before he showed up in Arrow's series finale to pay tribute to his fallen friend Oliver Queen.

Returning with its midseason premiere, the show is set to move into uncharted territory as it now moves forward without a planned end goal in sight. Whether that will help or hinder it remains to be seen, but it isn't quite done with the Crisis just yet, as the after-effects are already beginning to show.

'Marathon' was effective in setting up the season's new story while also addressing the aftermath of the Crisis, and it was all wrapped up in one highly enjoyable reporter procedural that gave its leading lady a long overdue chance to shine.
