The Flash Season 6 Review: 6 Ups & 2 Downs From 'The Last Temptation Of Barry Allen, Pt. 1'
Downs...
2. Flash Logic
Much like the latest episode of Arrow, The Flash was so strong this week that there weren't any major issues, but that didn't prevent one or two rather noticeable conveniences from slipping into the picture.
The episode concluded with Iris being the one to figure out that Barry wasn't really Barry - but that came at a cost. In order for that cliffhanger to be as effective as it was, Iris had to be kept away from Barry for the majority of the episode. Unfortunately, that meant that Mrs. West-Allen was busy following a lead in a different case just so she could remain separated from the rest of Team Flash.
While that sounds like something a crafty reporter such as Iris would do, the episode went out of its way to remind us that the Crisis was set to happen in just 48 hours. Sure the writers could defend this decision with the claim that Iris is still in denial, but as she has remained so supportive in Barry's attempts to prepare everyone for a world without The Flash, it would have made more sense for her to be with her husband as much as possible during those last two days.
But alas, plot convenience got in the way of that - so much so that Cisco and Frost didn't even contact Iris to let her know about Barry's battle with Bloodwork's disease until after they had managed to stabilise him (something they almost weren't able to do). You see the issue here?
