The Flash Season 6 Review: 7 Ups & 2 Downs From 'Grodd Friended Me'

Crisis, returns and prisons make Grodd a good boy in the most enjoyable Flash episode in some time.

Having split itself into two unique halves for its sixth season, The Flash's attempts to try something different have mostly been just that: Different. That's not to say there haven't been a few similarities along the way (because there have been), but the second half's Black Hole-centric storyline has made for a significant change of pace from the first.

However, that storyline took a backseat in the latest installment, as the show flooded fans with a sense of familiarity in a standalone episode that featured the return of multiple fan-favourite characters - the most important of them, no doubt, being Gorilla Grodd. And, like the character successfully did last season, he gifted Season 6 with one of its finest episodes.

Yes, 'Grodd Friended Me' was a reminder of just how effective The Flash can be when it puts its mind to it, as the return of Grodd tied up one of its biggest character arcs in a statisfactory way, while the multiple callbacks to the show's glory days left us all feeling a little nostalgic.
