The Handmaid's Tale Season 2: 10 Big Questions After 'Other Women'
We've been sent good weather...
This article contains spoilers for The Handmaid's Tale Season 2 Episode 4, Other Women.
The Handmaid's Tale Season 2 continued to disturb viewers in its fourth episode, which saw June return to her captivity at the Waterford house.
In last week's instalment, June attempt to flee Gilead one and for all, but the plan was sabotaged and the handmaid was left on her own. She managed to make her way to the getaway aeroplane without any assistance, but was apprehended before the plane could take off.
Other Women focused on June returning to the life she so desperately tried to flee from, but this time she faced the consequences of her escape attempt. Aunt Lydia gave June a choice: to remain June and suffer the consequences of her actions after her baby is born, or return to her role as Offred and leave her mistakes in the past.
June agreed to return to her masters. However, this time, Aunt Lydia was present for most of her day to day activities, which made for some interesting conflict throughout.
It was another wonderful episode for the harrowing series, but in typical Handmaid's Tale fashion, viewers have been left with many questions.
10. Will June Attempt To Escape Again?
Upon returning to the Waterford mansion, June found herself right back where she was in Season 1. Except this time, the Waterfords are aware of how desperately she wants to flee. And even though the Handmaid got off lightly due to her pregnancy, Serena made no efforts to hide her disdain at having June back under her roof.
Since The Handmaid's Tale began, viewers have no doubt been hoping that this nightmare would come to an end and that June would escape, but the threat of what would happen if she was unsuccessful always loomed over her.
As her pregnancy is somewhat of a safety net, June has a window of opportunity to escape again. But with a failed attempt already under her belt, will she try again? While punishment was light, this doesn't mean that she is off the hook. Serena will no doubt be watching her like a hawk, and will make contemplating an escape much more difficult.
