2. Emily's Faith In Humanity Restored

After all the pain and agony Emily has endured over the course of the two seasons, it's no wonder that she lost her faith in humanity. It's no wonder that she lost hope. Ever since returning to Gilead from the colonies, she's been passed round from house to house, which has done little to restore her confidence in the world. As of last week, she is assigned to Commander Lawrence, a.k.a the architect of Gilead's economy.

Although he's a little unconventional for a commander, who would have thought Lawrence would be the man to get Emily to safety. His goodwill gesture is met with glee from the young handmaid and Emily reunites with June, as the pair bid farewell to the oppressive community once and for all. Emily's faith is restored and she's on her way back to her son. It's a beautiful moment. After all this time, she got out. Alive.
