The IT Crowd: Every Main Character Ranked Worst To Best
5. Denholm
Getting frustrated by the "powers that be" is a universal feeling that plenty of workers have, which is why it's so common for sitcoms to play up to it. We've seen plenty of erratic and wild bosses on TV, but The IT Crowd managed to create two. Unfortunately for the "greatest man in the world", he fell a little short.
First, let's discuss what made this character great. The flawlessly intense performance from Chris Morris made Denholm a force to be reckoned with, and he was great at bringing the stakes of the episodes up. As the fearsome and irrational owner of Reynholm industries, he made all of the IT crew's time on the upper floors terrifying.
The drawbacks for his character come mainly from two factors, with the first being his departure from the show. Although he went out (the window) in glorious fashion, it still led to other characters making a better impression in his absence.
Additionally, while the shouting and sternness worked well, it made Denholm come across as rigid and one-note. This made him a great foil for the protagonists but caused him to lack development and versatility.
