The IT Crowd: Every Main Character Ranked Worst To Best
4. Douglas
If Denholm was the rigid and stubborn side of The IT Crowd, his son Douglas was the chaotic and unpredictable side. He was a chip off the old block regarding his weirdness and arrogance, but other than that, he was nothing like his father. The fact that he lasted longer and brought a completely different style to the show helps him climb above his senior.
Douglas' dramatic entrance into the show kicked it into its next stages. His man-child demeanour and frivolity turned the series into a progressively more bizarre project, which helped it grow. Plus, Matt Berry's over-the-top performance was an instant hit, thanks to his loud voice, goofy mannerisms and commitment to chewing the scenery.
The only downsides to Douglas came in the fact that he never changed. While he was unpredictable and hilarious, we never got the chance to see him grow up and get better, which felt like a slightly missed opportunity. Seeing him respect the IT Crowd themselves was a positive - and sorely needed - change for him, but outside of that, he ended exactly as he began.
