4. The Ghost Of Catherine Earnshaw (Wuthering Heights)
The League investigates a series of murders on the English countryside where all the victims are dudes named Heathcliff. Ghostly clues lead them to a haunted farmhouse on the Yorkshire moors, whereabouts crazy old housekeeper Nelly Dean tells them the legend of a vengeful yet beautiful lady-phantasm who kills every man named Heathcliff in an attempt to be reunited with her long-lost love. Being an expert in all kinds of things, Mina Murray attempts to summon the ghost and reason with her girl-to-girl. The spirit takes form in a blinding flash of light as candelabras and decorative plates and paintings start flying about the room. All except one painting€“ the portrait of Catherine Earnshaw. On a hunch, Captain Nemo yanks it off the wall, revealing someone behind it working a control panel. It is none other than Catherine Linton, daughter of Catherine Earnshaw! She wished to take revenge against every Heathcliff for ruining her life. And she would have gotten away with it, if it hadn't been for that meddling League of Extraordinary Gentleman.
