The Mandalorian 2.1 Review - 5 Ups And 2 Downs

1. The Return Of Boba Fett

The Mandalorian Season 2 Boba Fett
Lucasfilm / Disney+

Now for the big doozy: the final frame of Chapter 9 and the reveal of Boba Fett's return.

While this moment had already sort of been spoiled by casting rumours months ago, to see Temuera Morrison as Boba is still pretty spectacular. Morrison of course played Boba's father Jango in 2002's Attack of the Clones, as well as the clone troopers seen in both Episode II and Revenge of the Sith, and he's even rumoured to be playing none other than Captain Rex later in the season as well.

Fett makes his appearance in the closing moments of the season opener, after Vanth gives Din Djarin Fett's armour. As Mando speeds away with The Child and Beskar in tow, Fett watches on ominously, bearing all the scars of his run-in with the Sarlacc years earlier.

The implication here, surely, is that Fett and Din are going to run into each other at some point. We still don't know why Boba got rid of his armour after escaping the Sarlacc, or even if he wants it back in the first place, but given he is more than likely responsible for killing Fennec Shand back in Season 1, it's clear he has some level of interest in either Mando or, more worryingly, The Child.

Either way, as far as reveals go, they don't get much better than this.
