The Mandalorian 2.4 Review - 5 Ups And 2 Downs From Chapter 12

Ups...

5. *Obligatory Entry Praising The Child*

The Mandalorian Chapter 12 The Child
Lucasfilm

One of these days there'll be a Mando ups and downs that doesn't spotlight The Child in all their glory... but today is not that day.

From the off, Baby Yoda is given plenty of scene-stealing opportunities. There's a delightful sequence in the Razor Crest where Din attempts to lead The Child through how to fix the wiring, only for the Force-sensitive youngling to accidentally zap himself, and it resonates on the exact same level Rocket Racoon and Groot's "button" moment did in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

By far the standout sequence involving The Child, however, comes when he's placed in the local school. There he spots what I can only describe as a packet of "space macaroons" a fellow classmate is munching down on. Said classmate is unwilling to share, so The Child uses the Force to steal them. Justice is served. Mission accomplished. You absolutely *love* to see it, etc.

The Child's antics close out with a delightful dogfight involving the Razor Crest and a local squadron of TIE fighters where he barfs up the previously chowed down macaroons. Bless you, Baby Yoda. God bless.
