The Mandalorian 2.6 Review - 7 Ups And 1 Down From Chapter 14
Ups...
7. Din Clearly Doesn't Want To Say Goodbye To Grogu
Din has struggled all throughout the show to always get Grogu's attention, so to see him just say The Child's name to get him to talk was ridiculously adorable. It also clues us in on where he's at currently with the whole "surrogate father to a 50-year-old baby Jedi" thing.
Din gives a speech to Grogu about how giving him to a Jedi is the right thing to do, and that Grogu can't change his mind if a Jedi accepts him, but it feels like Din is talking about himself - albeit unknowingly. It's like he's psyching himself up to give Grogu away even though he isn't ready - a sweet but also heartbreaking detail, given the title of the episode spelled disaster from the off.
Either way, I think this clinches it: Grogu won't be joining another Jedi and Din is slowly warming to the idea of raising him as his own child. There is of course the chance a Jedi does reach out to Grogu (he was on the seeing stone for a LONG time), but the two have a bond now - it wouldn't be fair to rip them apart.
