The Mandalorian Season 2: 10 Biggest Moments And Reveals In "The Marshal"

4. An IMAX-Sized Action Scene

Lucasfilm / Disney+

An interesting thing happens during the battle with the Krayt Dragon. The aspect ratio changes, and the widescreen format is replaced with one more akin to what you'd see from an IMAX movie. It's likely this sequence was shot using those cameras, and while more details are likely to be revealed about that in the coming days, it's certainly intriguing.

After all, the benefit isn't really felt watching the episode on television. Yes, it looks great, but the only way to get that IMAX effect is on the big screen.

With that in mind, it seems logical that Disney's original plan was for this premiere to be released in cinemas. There are many fans who would have happily paid to watch the episode on an IMAX screen, and that would also go some way in explaining why it's so much longer than previous instalments.

You might be questioning whether that makes any business sense, but any non-Disney+ subscribers who watched it on an IMAX screen would no doubt be compelled to sign up to the streaming service. Disney likely stood to make millions from a release like this, but it seems current world events put an end to these plans.
