The Mandalorian Season 2: 10 Biggest Moments And Reveals In "The Passenger"
"The Passenger" was the show's most disappointing episode, but there were still some big moments!
After returning with an incredible opening episode last Friday, The Mandalorian's second season continued today with Chapter 10, a.k.a. "The Passenger." Directed by Ant-Man and The Wasp helmer Peyton Reed, it delivered a very different take on this Galaxy Far, Far Away than what most fans have come to expect, but left them with plenty to discuss as well.
In some respects, it was definitely a "filler" episode, but one which still featured some big Easter Eggs, a few clues about where this season is going, and more cute, meme-worthy Baby Yoda moments than the entire first season's eight chapters combined (seriously, this is just what everyone needed this week).
Din Djarin is still on a mission to reunite The Child with its people, and to do so, he's going to have to track down his fellow Mandalorians. It's still hard to say where this season is going, but thanks to the events of "The Passenger," there are at least some clues about what that might ultimately lead to.
Here, you'll find an in-depth recap of Chapter 10's biggest reveals and moments, including a look at where things might be headed for the bounty hunter in next week's untitled Chapter 11...
MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD!
10. Ambush On Tatooine
"The Passenger" picks up almost immediately where "The Marshal" left off as Din Djarin and The Child head through Tatooine's deserts on that borrowed speeder bike. However, it's destroyed when the duo is ambushed by a group of bounty hunters who want to get their hands on The Child.
Despite being taken by surprise, the Mandalorian manages to fight them off, but is forced to make a deal with one of them when the alien holds a knife to The Child's throat. He exchanges his jetpack in exchange for his ward, but sends the thief flying into the atmosphere before it returns to him (there's then a very cool throwback to the way R2-D2 fell over in A New Hope).
Clearly, Moff Gideon still has contracts out for bounty hunters to retrieve The Child, and this scene emphasises that neither of them are safe despite the villain's apparent defeat in the season one finale.
Unfortunately, this lot don't appear to have any ties to Boba Fett, and that iconic Star Wars villain doesn't make an appearance. It is, however, being reported that a Disney+ miniseries will start shooting as soon as next week!
