The Mandalorian Season 2: 10 Major New Reveals From EW's Feature And Stills
7. Exploring A Larger Story
With all those new characters - many of whom are obviously familiar faces from the wider Star Wars Universe - joining The Mandalorian, there's been some concern among fans that Din Djarin and The Child may be overshadowed during season two.
While it does sound like they will remain the focus, Favreau was quick to point out that the scale of the series is about to get considerably bigger moving forward. "The new season is about introducing a larger story in the world, he teases. "The stories become less isolated, yet each episode has its own flavor, and hopefully we’re bringing a lot more scope to the show."
Filoni, meanwhile, reiterated that point, explaining: "Everything gets bigger, the stakes get higher, but also the personal story between the Child and the Mandalorian develops in a way I think people will enjoy." It's that last part which will be music to the ears of many fans, as it's obviously a relief to know that the two leads won't become supporting characters in their own show.
"As we introduce other characters, there are opportunities to follow different storylines," Favreau concludes. "The world was really captivated by Game of Thrones and how that evolved as the characters followed different storylines - that's very appealing to me as an audience member."
