The Mandalorian Season 2: 10 Reasons To Be Excited

9. The Killer Soundtrack

The soundtrack to the first season was a fantastic success, an original score that flawlessly captured the feeling of the show.

A full orchestral piece in the style of John Williams’ original trilogy score, the Mandalorian’s soundtrack perfectly toed the line between the grand Star Wars sound we recognise and something completely new, or even almost Western-like. Using simple bass and woodwind that slowly builds upon itself before breaking into a truly epic suite, the main theme is utterly unique amongst Star Wars soundtracks.

The other music of the show follows suit, each track particular in its design and matching perfectly with its intended scene. Together they make for an OST that flows wonderfully with the rest of the show.

With Ludwig Göransson heading the soundtrack once more, who won an Emmy for his work on the first season, we’re sure to get something just as atmospheric.

My passion for all things Sci Fi goes back to my earliest days, when old VHS copies of Thunderbirds and Captain Scarlet gripped my tiny mind with their big, noisy vehicles and terrifying puppets. I'd like to say my taste got more refined over the years, but between the Warhammer, Space Dandy and niche Star Wars EU books, perhaps it just got broader. I've enjoyed games of all calibre since I figured out that dice weren't just for eating, and have written prose ever since I was left unsupervised with some crayons next to a white wall. I got away with it by calling it "schoolwork" for as long as I could, and university helped me keep the charade going a while longer. Since my work began to get published, it's made all those long hours repainting the walls seem worth it.
