The Mandalorian Season 2: 10 Reasons To Be Excited

8. The Epic Fight Scenes

The fight scenes so far in The Mandalorian have, with few exceptions, been fantastically choreographed.

Using weapons and environments fantastically well, with everything from spinning around a hovering turret to crushing bounty hunters in doors (twice), these fights kept us eager for more. None of the episodes fell behind either; whether it was the pitched battle with the raiders and their AT-ST or a deadly approach against just a single sniper, each encounter felt tense and exciting.

More brutal than anything we’ve really seen in Star Wars before (I wasn’t expecting to actually hear the bubbling of a melting Stormtrooper), The Mandalorian has stood out compared to other offerings in the franchise. Between the mercenary camp, the Imperial hideout and the ambush at the cantina, blasters have never felt deadlier.

With the promise of at least one Jedi, no doubt more Imperials and possibly even the New Republic to fight, it's only right to anticipate the combat getting even better. Those Jawas don’t stand a chance.

My passion for all things Sci Fi goes back to my earliest days, when old VHS copies of Thunderbirds and Captain Scarlet gripped my tiny mind with their big, noisy vehicles and terrifying puppets. I'd like to say my taste got more refined over the years, but between the Warhammer, Space Dandy and niche Star Wars EU books, perhaps it just got broader. I've enjoyed games of all calibre since I figured out that dice weren't just for eating, and have written prose ever since I was left unsupervised with some crayons next to a white wall. I got away with it by calling it "schoolwork" for as long as I could, and university helped me keep the charade going a while longer. Since my work began to get published, it's made all those long hours repainting the walls seem worth it.
