The Mandalorian Season 2 Trailer Review: 5 Ups & 1 Down

Downs...

1. We Didn't Really See Anything New

When you get right down to it, a trailer's job is to not only advertise a product, but to also advertise to you what separates this product from the others, including whatever it's a sequel to, in the case of movies and TV.

With the Mandalorian's trailer, we get plenty of dialogue that hints at what the main story is going to be, and we'll get into the implications there later, but the actual content up on the screen isn't exactly eye catchingly new.

We get more planets, but it's more of what we saw in Season 1, grungy, run down cities, dusty barren landscapes, and seedy bars full of weird aliens. And of course, we get more footage of Din Djarin looking badass.

While none of this is bad, there isn't really a central, eye catching visual to tie the trailer together. Even Rise of Skywalker had the striking image of the battle atop the ruined Death Star to give its trailer some real flavor.

Okay got through our veggies. Onto the dessert...
