Like any of these ambitious undertakings involving beloved IPs, you need great leadership in order to make them work. Thankfully Jon Favreau and Filoni are no strangers to this process and have added another big success to their resume, with Favreau having experience on the creative side of the MCU and Filoni crafting many beloved Star Wars stories in the animated Clone Wars and Rebels shows.

The Mandalorian thrives creatively because it avoids that feeling of having too many cooks in the kitchen, a problem for most blockbuster projects. The show never feels particularly messy or like it's at odds with an overarching story - a criticism frequently levelled at the Sequel Trilogy.
