The Newsroom: 5 News Stories That Should Be Covered In Series 2

1. The Boston Marathon

Boston Alright, this one is reaching. Why, you might ask? Because it just happened three months ago. On April 15, 2013, two brothers detonated two improvised explosive devices at the finish line of the Boston Marathon, killing three people and wounding well over 100 more. The first terrorist attack carried out on American soil since September 11, 2001, the controversial martial law in Boston and the massive manhunt for the two cowards behind this gruesome attack ending in Watertown, Massachusetts four days later would make for arguably this show's most captivating hour. It's easy to imagine the emotion this episode would invoke. Most of the news team having most likely lived through 9/11 in New York and having just recently reported the killing of Osama bin Laden, they now have to report another terror attack while fearful of an al Qaeda retaliation and/or another attack in New York, which turned out to be planned for the following day. I can't see it happening this season due to timing because I honestly can't see Aaron Sorkin sink low enough to scramble a script together while paramedics were still on the ground in Boston. Maybe very late in the season it could happen, but I think we can definitely bank on it happening for season 3. Can you think of another recent news story that News Night 2.0 could cover? Sound off below!
