The Office: 10 Worst Things Michael Scott Ever Did
1. Pledged To Pay For Children's College Tuition
This episode is so painful to sit through that many viewers can't even do it, such is the cringe-inducing power of Scott's Tots. It's a great moment for the show, but one quite easily ranks as the worst decision Michael Scott has ever made.
Scott's Tots reveals that during a trip to an elementary school a decade prior, Michael pledged to pay for a class of third-graders college tuition if they graduated high school. Of course, he made this promise thinking he'd be able to do so in ten years, but it was an utterly hollow pledge as he doesn't have the means to do so now.
Things only get worse as he arrives at the school to let them down, but is treated by an array of special thank you messages, including a room named after him, heartfelt speeches and even an entire song about how he will "make their dreams come true". Then, it all comes crashing down as he admits his fault to them.
Unlike many of his other decisions, this one was made with good intentions. Still, it's safe to say that Pam's reaction upon hearing about Scott's Tots was absolutely right.
"Michael. This is a terrible, terrible thing you've done. It's terrible, just terrible".
