The Office: 12 Most Cringeworthy Scenes
"Hey Mr. Scott, what you gonna do? What you gonna do? Make our dreams come true"
There are very few TV shows throughout history that started as an American version of a pre-existing series from another country and can still be called a success. However, even those who enjoyed the original version in the UK can agree that The Office US is the superior version.
In the world of sitcoms, there are some true giants vying for the title of best ever, and this show is easily one of the greatest. Even the likes of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, How I Met Your Mother, and Community aspire to the popularity that The Office has gained over the years.
However, for all the wonderful seasons that kept fans coming back year after year, there are so many moments that are damn near unwatchable. The Office is almost famous more for the scenes and scenarios that make fans cringe away from the TV than those that have made them laugh.
Whether it was an ill advised romantic decision, Michael's questionable management style, or a hopeful promise gone VERY wrong, this show has had more than its fair share of cringeworthy moments. Some however, are far worse than others.
12. Michael Proposes To Carol
When Michael Scott was a child, he only ever had one dream. He wanted to get married and have 100 kids so that he could have 100 friends, but as he grew up, he struggled with this aspiration. His romantic life certainly left a lot to be desired.
One person he hit it off with was Carol, the real estate agent who sold him his condo. The two began dating, and though they had some rough patches, Michael at least seemed to think they had what it took to go all the way.
At Kelly's Diwali party, as if it wasn't already cringey enough that Michael told Carol that it was a costume party, he managed to make things worse. Overcome with emotion, whilst getting carried away in the moment, Michael stole the microphone and, in front of the entire party, asked Carol to marry him.
The two had only been on nine dates, and weren't anywhere close to this kind of commitment, yet even so he was inspired by Kelly's parents to ask the question that Carol was always going to say no to. As hard as this was to watch however, it STILL wasn't the cringiest marriage proposal of the series...
