Though Michael Scott treats his co-workers like they were his family, there is one that he simply cannot stand. The black sheep of the family is Toby Flenderson, and it seems that sometimes, no matter how arbitrary or undeserved Michael's hate towards him was, it rubbed off on those around him.

When the group were stuck in the office waiting for Hank to come and rescue them, he and Pam shared a joke about their boss. Not only that, but she genuinely laughed at something he said.

What happened next was so unbelievably awkward, and was a product of Toby getting carried away with even the slightest bit of affection thrown his way. It didn't help that he was a little obsessed with Pam to begin with, and when she treated him, not only like a human being, but a human being she liked, he went too far.

As they laughed, Toby put his hand on Pam's leg and gave it a little rub and a squeeze. Everyone saw it, and it killed the mood of the entire room. It was strange, totally uncalled for, she was literally sat next to her boyfriend, and it prompted him to immediately announce that he was moving to Costa Rica, almost as if solely to get away from this moment.
