The Office Cast: Where Are They Now?
16. B. J. Novak
The rise and fall of Ryan Howard was an increasingly less important plot in The Office, but B.J. Novak’s mischievous performance made the most of a colourful side character. Novak was also a key writer and producer on the show for the entirety of its run.
Howard’s filmography is slim, but he picks his projects well. He had a small part in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 which might have been expanded had the franchise not been rebooted once again. He played songwriter Robert Sherman in Saving Mr Banks, and had a decent part as McDonalds’ original CEO in decent drama The Founder.
On TV he has continued to work with Office co-star and good pal Mindy Kaling, writing two episodes of her eponymous sitcom and appearing in a further four.
He scored a substantial book deal immediately following his sitcom work, and has since released a short story collection as well as two children’s books, which have been highly successful. In a very Ryan Howard move he debuted an app in 2015, which pretty quickly shut down due to lack of uptake.
