The Office Quiz: Who Was Almost Cast?

Bears. Beets. Battlestar Galactica.

The Grudge John Cho
Sony Pictures Releasing

It is hard to imagine a world in which Steve Carrell did not play Michael Scott.

Indeed, Rainn Wilson, John Krasinski and Jenna Fischer, along with the rest of the incredible actors and actresses involved in the production, produced such inimitable performances of the beloved characters that comprise the cast of The Office that it is difficult to envisage an alternate cast that could have produced such an amazing show.

Arguably the most successful and instantly recognizable comedy of the 21st century, The Office was a career springboard for a large portion of its relatively unknown line-up when it debuted in 2005. This makes it all the more surprising that many more established performers were ultimately passed on for selection by the casting crew.

While it's safe to say that it worked out in the long run, there are several jaw dropping names who were considered for integral roles in the show. A video was released towards the end of the series' run, containing audition tapes from 2003, highlighting some (but not all!) of the more famous men and women who put their names forward for employment with Dunder Mifflin.

How much of an Office super-fan are you? Can you match them to the role they were considered for?
