7. Shary Bobbins

In the 1997 episode 'Simpsoncalifragilisticexpiala(Annoyed Grunt)cious', "Shary Bobbins" is introduced as Bart and Lisa's new nanny when Marge realises she is balding with stress. 'Shary' is an obvious parody of Mary Poppins - the title character of a series of P. L. Travers' children's books, and is even shown to possess magical qualities, such as flying with an umbrella. She was once engaged to groundskeeper Willie, and though she tries to better Bart and Lisa by making them do chores, despairs over how useless and lazy they are and becomes upset. The Simpsons realise that they are happy the way they are, and don't need to change, and bid Shary goodbye as she flies off. Unaware to them, she flies into a jet engine and is shredded to death.
