The Simpsons: 10 Best Couch Gags

6. Banksy

First Appearance: "MoneyBart" (3x22)

This couch gag is created by Graffiti artist Banksy. The gag itself is visually amazing, while being very depressing and a commentary on real life. The gag opens with the normal intro and a seemingly normal couch gag, before transporting the audience into a factory where factory workers, including children, are forced to slave away to produce the animations and merchandise.

It shows grim imagery, with a sad soundtrack to add to the grim and despair of the scene. This includes using a unicorn that is starved to poke holes in the DVDs, a dolphin's tongue to lick the parcels and throwing rabbits in a woodchipper in order to create the stuffing for Bart dolls.

The whole couch gag is brilliant in the way it creates a dreaded atmosphere and how some companies have been outed as practically slaving people in order to finish their products. While the Simpsons is obviously poking fun at Fox by stating they do the same thing, it is still a grim reminder that this sort of thing happens in the world and uses both the score and animation to paint a truly depressing image.
