The Simpsons: 10 Best Martin Prince Moments
9. Phantom Of The Opera
Martin fluctuated between secondary character and tertiary, and this moment is representing all the great cutaways, background jokes and one liners he was part of. Below the likes of Apu, Moe, Flanders, Skinner, Milhouse, Ralph, Nelson etc., Martin often went several episodes without so much as a line. When he got one though, he usually shone.
In the flash forward ep Lisa’s Wedding, we’re told Martin is killed in a science fair explosion. However, it turns out he didn’t quite perish, although sometimes he wishes he did, and he's living under the school, Phantom Of The Opera style. Quite why there’s a piano beneath the school is anyone’s guess.
It’s far from being the only good blink-and-you’ll-miss-it appearance from Martin though. The time he’s locked in a cage as the students run the school under Principal Flanders is gold, especially as we return later to see him adjusting to life, ironing his shirt in there.
His Halloween costumes were usually great too, such as when he’s Oberon and Willie mistakes him for a big fat bug, spraying him with fly repellent.
